Here’s how to make your home appeal to buyers in the fall.
Now that fall is upon us, is it a good time to sell your home?
Absolutely! Every year there’s a considerable lull in our marketplace during July—a lot of people are on vacation, and the rest don’t want to go outside because it’s so hot. Things pick up again in late August and early September once the weather turns nicer, but the problem for buyers is that sellers tend to take their homes off the market during fall.
This means, as a seller, the scales are tipping in your favor. There are plenty of buyers out there, but they don’t have many homes to choose from. However, since summer is over, your landscaping might look a little ragged. This means you may have to do some fall cleanup to make your house presentable. If your lawn is dead, aerate and seed it. You can also lay straw on it. Beautifying your lawn makes you look like a homeowner who takes good care of their home, and that’s the impression you want to strike among buyers.
The real secret to making your home presentable, though, is decor. On that note, I have one word for you: mums. There’s nothing better than mums this time of year. You simply can’t have enough around your house. Add them in addition to the usual fall decorations, and your home will look fantastic to buyers.
